The Chart MVE Fusion won the 2017 Outstanding New Product Award from the International Society for Biological and Environmental Repositories (ISBER). The award was announced at ISBER’s annual meeting in Core’s hometown of Toronto, Ontario.
The MVE Fusion is the world’s first self-sustaining cryogenic freezer. It is a refrigerated liquid-based bio-storage freezer and is similar in appearance to the MVE High Efficiency and HEco freezers. The Fusion will provide cold storage capabilities with no need for liquid cryogenic during normal operations. An interior pressure vessel is charged with liquid nitrogen when the freezer begins operations and a condenser reliquefies the nitrogen offering a self-sustaining supply of coolant. The Fusion is so efficient that if the power is shut off it will maintain it’s cryogenic hold below -150°C for 7 days!
The freezer will initially be released in a 1500 series size with a sample capacity of 31,000 2ml vials. It is expected to be available by the end of 2017 and will go into full production in 2018. Launch dates and further information about this revolutionary product will be posted on the Core Cryolab website as they become available.
